John Mazurek - Fine Artist
I began as a film photographer over 45 years ago with a 35mm camera and a basement darkroom. I loved to both capture the image - manipulating time, light, angles and perspective; and print the image in the darkroom. While raising a family and pursuing a career, I always had a camera close by to record events. I am now retired from the Chicago Public Schools and live with my wife in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. Several years ago, I changed my format and I am now all digital. With digital imaging, technology has finally matched the quality of film. I use a Canon 20D, 8.2 MP camera with a variety of Ultrasonic and Image-stabilizing lens. I use Adobe Lightroom for organization and Photoshop CS3 for image processing. I print on either an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 or a Canon i9900 printer using a variety of papers. I also capture images using an Epson Perfection V700 Photo Scanner and a Nikon CoolScan ED Negative Scanner.
I am a member of the Spectrum Gallery in Racine, Wisconsin where my work is exhibited. I also teach digital photography. I am proud that my two daughters are developing as artists as well.
